Imagine a particularly time-consuming first date. Then after the date, imagine being expected to ring the girl every week to see if they are any closer to deciding if they want a second date with you. Throw in a couple of cancelled second dates, while throughout the girl is going on first dates with other guys, whilst asking you for more and more info about yourself including your intimate financial details. Not only this but she is discussing you with her boss who although he has never met you will ultimately make the second date decision.
That is the sometimes interminable process of moving from agreement to do social media work for a client, all the way to actual budget sign off to do said work.
Sometimes this agency-client seduction process is wonderful with its twists and turns; sometimes it is just deathly dull, with great ideas being killed off by deliberation, delay and dithering.
I like to cut and shunt the two following quotations together to provide solace or chivvy me along: “Our patience will achieve more than our force” (Edmund Burke) and “Patience has its limits. Take it too far, and it’s cowardice” (George Jackson).
