To bay or not to bay

The 24 Accents video was originally blogged about by Shailesh Ghimire in July, but I was reminded of this video when reading a review of John Simm’s Hamlet this weekend.

You see the review caused me to remember a little-known fact that I came across as a geeky teenager when I obsessively attended public lectures by Sir Peter Hall and read books by John Barton, fueling my obsession with Shakespeare.  That gem of trivia is that Shakespeare and his Players would have spoken with what sounded like a blend of Northern Irish, West Country, American sounding accents.
