How much talent...in reality?
Everyone has been raving about a very mediocre performance of Bring Him Home from Les Miserables on Britain’s Got Talent, simply because the person singing was a pizza delivery man.
It didn’t matter to people raving about it that his performance was rather weak and piping, that he couldn’t hold the notes and he sang it an octave below how the song is written because he had a “story” because the audience stood up and the panel said one superlative after another about it.
But this isn’t “reality”, because if it was, a contestant talented enough to deserve such outlandish praise would already be a widely regarded pro singer, sounding something like this maybe…
Was the man on the talent show a “sensation”, “gifted”, an “amazing” talent. No, but he was alright for someone whose job isn’t to sing showtunes!
